Born and raised in Honolulu, Alan went away to attend Yale University, serve in the Peace Corps in Tunisia, North Africa, then attend Law School at Boalt Hall, University of California. He returned home to serve as law clerk to the late William S. Richardson, Chief Justice of the Hawaii Supreme Court. Alan has written and spoken extensively on insurance law and litigation.
