Following receipt of a B.S. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of California, Riverside, I received an academic merit scholarship to attend the University of Kentucky College of Law. While in law school, I interned with Hon. Joseph Hood of the US District Court for the Eastern District of KY.

Following graduation, I was a Staff Attorney for Hon. Joseph R. Huddleston of the KY Court of Appeals, and Senior Staff Attorney for Hon. John D. Minton, Jr., now the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Kentucky.

Upon departure from the Court of Appeals, I was an Administrative Hearing Officer for the Tennesse Department of Revenue, which involved hearing taxpayer appeals on any of the various state taxes administered by the Department.

I left state government to enter private practice, first in the area of personal injury before taking on the Social Security Disability practice of a large multi-state law firm.

After several successful years in Kentucky and Tennessee, I took a position with a small law firm in Southwest Florida. When that project had run its course, I decided to remain in Southwest Florida and open a full service law firm in Estero.

The Law Offices of Alan Lani, P.L., serves all of Southwest Florida from its main location in Estero. Mr. Lani successfully represented thousands of persons who had initially been denied Social Security Disability benefits while employed by other law firms, but has started his own office to combine that experience with an emphasis on personal service.
