Debra L. Ferwerda was born and raised in Tampa. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Communications from Florida State University. Debra attended St. Thomas University College of Law in Miami, where she served as Articles Editor on the Law Review and later graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree with Honors. After graduation, she joined the Orange County State Attorney's Office from 1996 to 1999.
