What are no-fault benefits?

No-fault benefits are part of a Texas accident law known as a no-fault system. In this system, when a person is involved in an auto accident, their insurance company pays for their medical expenses regardless of who was at fault in the accident. In other words, the insurance company pays regardless of whether or not the person who was injured caused the accident. No-fault benefits can include medical bills, lost wages, and/or funeral costs if the accident was fatal. No-fault benefits often have limits and may not cover all of the damages associated with an accident. In Texas, the insurance company will usually cover up to $2,500 of the medical and related expenses. When filing a no-fault claim, the person involved in the accident must demonstrate that they were legitimately injured in the accident. In order to do this, they must provide their insurance company with the police report, any medical documents, a statement of the accident, and any other documentation that proves their injuries are related to the accident. No-fault benefits are an important part of Texas accident law and provide a way for accident victims to get the medical attention they need without having to settle a case in court. It is important to always seek medical attention if you are injured in a car accident, even if you do not believe your injuries are serious.
