What is the Admiralty Law of salvage?

Admiralty Law’s salvage law concerns the rights of a vessel owner and the salvage crew. Salvage can be defined as an act or process of saving cargo or a vessel in danger of perishing. In the case of maritime salvage operations, the salvage crew assists the vessel owner in saving the ship, cargo, or both. In general, salvage operators are not liable for any damages that occur as a result of their efforts. This applies even if the damages were caused by a mistake made by the salvor. However, this may not be the case if the salvor was negligent or acted maliciously.
