What is the process for aircraft registration?

In Kansas, all aircraft must be registered before they can be operated. The process for registration is as follows: 1. First, an applicant must complete the Form AC Form 8050-1 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This form must be filled out correctly and completely, with all the required information. The form can be obtained from the FAA’s website or at an FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO). 2. All applicants must also submit proof of ownership, such as a Bill of Sale or Purchase Agreement. 3. The applicant must then submit the form and proof of ownership to the Aircraft Registration Office of the Kansas Department of Transportation. 4. The registrant will then receive a Certificate of Ownership from the Aircraft Registration Office. 5. The registrant must then affix the Certificate of Ownership to the exterior of the aircraft with a rivet or other secure attachment. 6. Finally, the Aircraft Registration Office will issue a registration number to the aircraft that must also be affixed to the exterior of the aircraft. Once these steps have been completed, the aircraft is legally registered and ready for operation in Kansas. It is important to note that registration must be renewed every three years in order for the aircraft to remain legal for operation in the state.
