What are the requirements for aircraft noise certification?
In Oregon, the requirements for aircraft noise certification are established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). To meet the requirements for noise certification, an aircraft must not exceed the maximum allowable noise level specified by the FAA. In Oregon, the FAA specifies that all aircraft must meet a noise level limit of 85 decibels (dB) when measured during a flyover at 1,000 feet above ground level.
