How is airspace control regulated?

Airspace control is regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in Texas. The FAA is responsible for regulating air traffic control in the United States, including in Texas. The FAA publishes an Aeronautical Chart which details control of the airspace in each state. Airspace is divided into classes of operational control, which are: Class A, B, C, D, E, and G. Each airspace class designates different rules for operating aircraft within the airspace. TxDOT also regulates the airspace in Texas by issuing airspace permits, restricting drones, and providing guidance for navigating through the airspace. All aircraft must obtain a permit from TxDOT to fly within the state. This includes commercial, private, and recreational aircraft. TxDOT also restricts drones and unmanned aircraft from operating in certain airspaces and areas, such as near airports. TxDOT also provides guidance for aircraft pilots in the form of regulations, advisories, and procedures to follow when navigating through the airspace. In order to maintain a safe and controlled airspace in Texas, both the FAA and TxDOT work together to ensure that airspace control is properly regulated. The FAA and TxDOT publish information detailing airspace control, which pilots must use when planning a flight. Through this information, pilots are able to plan their flights safely and efficiently, while also adhering to the regulations for flying in Texas.
