What is the process for obtaining an aircraft export certificate?
To obtain an aircraft export certificate in Maryland, there are several steps that must be undertaken. First, you must make sure that the aircraft you intend to export is registered in the U.S. or that you have an Export Certificate of Airworthiness (C of A) from the country you are exporting to. You must then file an application for the certificate of export airworthiness with the FAA Aircraft Registration Branch in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The application must be accompanied by a payment of the required fees. Next, once the application is approved, you must provide the FAA with a description of the aircraft, its make and model, serial number, and current registration number. You must also provide proof of ownership of the aircraft, such as a bill of sale, and proof that you have taken an accepted safety course. Additionally, you must submit a copy of the aircraft’s airworthiness certificate. Finally, the FAA will issue an Export Certificate of Airworthiness. This document must accompany the aircraft when it is exported. The certificate must be kept until the aircraft is no longer owned or operated by the exporter.
