Are there any laws that protect animals from being used for bullfighting?

In Delaware, there are a few laws that protect animals from being used for bullfighting. The Delaware Bullfighting Statute was passed in 2005 and prohibits anyone from being involved in bullfighting, or owning, possessing, or exhibiting a bull for the purpose of bullfighting. Bullfights are defined as “any event or contest in which a bull is caused to fight with or pursued by any other animal, or in which a bull is caused to fight with a human being”. The law also states that any person violating this statute is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor. Additionally, the Delaware Animal Protection Law of 2019 further prohibits any person from using animals for fighting purposes. This includes any event in which a spectator or participant pays an admission fee, or is offered a prize for an animal’s participation in a fight. Anyone who violates this law can be held liable for a class B misdemeanor, which is punishable by a fine up to $1,150. Lastly, the Delaware Humane Law of 2014 makes it illegal to have a pet or any other domesticated animal fight to the death for any entertainment, sport, or other commercial purpose. Anyone found to be in violation of this statute can be found guilty of a class A misdemeanor. These laws in Delaware are designed to protect animals from exploitation and from being used for cruel activities, such as bullfighting. It is important for everyone to be aware of these laws and to recognize the importance of protecting animals from any type of mistreatment.
