What are the time limits for filing an appeal?

In Maryland, an appeal in appellate law must be filed within 30 days of the date of the final judgment, order, or other final action being appealed. This 30-day time limit can be extended if there are extenuating circumstances, such as a buyers’ remorse period or a delay in the mail. The time for filing a Notice of Appeal in the Court of Special Appeals is governed by Maryland Rule 8-204. In criminal cases, it requires that the notice be filed within 10 days from the date of the judgment or sentence. The time can be extended to 30 days with good cause.
