What remedies are available for a party who loses an appeal?

In Nevada, when a party has lost an appeal, they have limited remedies available to them. Depending on the facts of the case, the party may be able to seek further review by the Nevada Supreme Court. The Nevada Supreme Court has the ultimate authority to review and reverse any decision made by a lower court. The party may also seek a rehearing or rehearing en banc in order to have the appellate court reconsider its decision on the merits. This is a discretionary decision for the appellate court, which means that the court may deny the request if it deems that a rehearing is not necessary. The party may also seek a writ of mandamus from the Nevada Supreme Court. This type of writ requires the appellate court to take some action which is required by law and which the court has failed to do. Finally, the party could also file an appeal of the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court, however, this is a very rare occurrence. The U.S. Supreme Court decides which cases to hear, and the court only hears a small percentage of the appeals it receives. For this reason, the U.S. Supreme Court is typically seen as a last-ditch effort for parties who have failed to prevail in their own cases.
