How often do the appellate courts review their decisions?
Appellate courts in Kansas review their decisions on an as-needed basis. Generally, the trial court has the last say in a case, but if one of the parties involved is not satisfied with the ruling, they may appeal the decision to an appellate court. The appellate court only reviews decisions when it is requested to do so by one of the parties in the case. In general, appellate courts in Kansas review decisions on a case-by-case basis and will not review all decisions. This is because the appeals process is intended to be a mechanism for correcting errors of law or errors of procedure. In other words, appellate courts are not intended to review questions of fact, which were already examined at the trial court level. When an appellate court does review a decision, it will look at the case from top to bottom. This means that the court will look at the arguments raised by the parties, the evidence presented, and the legal arguments that were brought up in the case. If the court determines that the trial court made an error of law or procedure, it will reverse the ruling. Appellate courts in Kansas typically review cases two to four times a year, depending on the nature of the appeal. However, the appeals process is complex and the review process can be lengthy. In most cases, it can take more than a year before a decision is issued by an appellate court.
