What is the law for driving with a suspended license?

In Washington, it is illegal to operate a vehicle on public roads if one’s license has been suspended. This is considered a criminal offense and is punishable by law with a fine, possible jail time, and community service. Driving with a suspended license can happen for several reasons, including drunk driving or driving without proper insurance. It is important to remember that even after a license suspension is lifted, a person must still obtain a new license from the Department of Licensing in order to legally drive again. If a driver is found guilty of driving with a suspended license, they may be subject to the following penalties: a fine of up to $500, up to 90 days in jail and/or an additional license suspension. Further, the driver’s vehicle can be impounded and they may be required to fulfill community service hours. It is important to note that if a person is found guilty of driving on a suspended license more than one time, they can expect more severe punishments such as larger fines, more jail time, and longer suspensions. Additionally, if a person is charged with driving on a suspended license and is later involved in a car crash with injuries, the penalties may be much more severe than those listed above. It is essential to adhere to the laws in the state of Washington and never drive with a suspended license. Doing so can result in serious consequences and can even put other drivers on the road in danger.
