A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, although some airlines may have further requirements. They must also provide passengers with information on emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers, oxygen masks, and emergency exits. Flight attendants must be able to move quickly and respond to passengers if they require assistance. Flight attendants must inform passengers of the rules and regulations of the flight, including the no-smoking policy and the use of electronic devices. They must make sure passengers remain seated and buckled during takeoff and landing, and check that all items are stowed away safely. Finally, they must provide information regarding flight changes and delays. In addition, flight attendants must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. This includes following the guidelines set by the Department of Transportation and the FAA. All flight attendants must have up-to-date training in order to maintain their certification for a given flight.
