What is the process for obtaining a Commercial Pilot Certificate?
In order to obtain a Commercial Pilot Certificate in Oklahoma, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. They must be at least 18 years old, be able to read, speak, and understand English, and have an appropriate pilot’s license or certificate issued by the FAA. Additionally, the applicant must pass a written test approved by the FAA, have at least 250 hours of flight experience, and log at least 100 hours of pilot-in-command time. Once the applicant has met the necessary requirements, they must obtain a medical certificate from an FAA approved aviation medical examiner and then contact the local FAA Flight Standards District Office. At the office, the applicant will need to provide the written exam results, the medical certificate, and proof of the flight experience and time in command. The FAA will then conduct a flight check and issue the Commercial Pilot Certificate. In Oklahoma, the applicant must also have an Oklahoma Airman Certificate or Aviation Pilot License, as well as meet all the FAA requirements to be approved. This certificate must be renewed either every two years or 24 calendar months, whichever is greater. Additionally, the pilot must have a valid medical certificate to fly. Once all the requirements have been met and the flight check is complete, the Commercial Pilot Certificate will be issued. After this process is complete, the commercial pilot can start flying both passenger and cargo flights.
