What is the process for obtaining a Dispatcher Certificate?

In Oklahoma, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires individuals to obtain a Dispatcher Certificate in order to act as an air traffic controller or air traffic dispatcher. The process for obtaining a Dispatcher Certificate begins with completing the Oklahoma aeronautical Knowledge Test. This is a 60-question test which includes topics such as general flight rules, aviation weather, radar services, and air navigation. After passing the exam, you must then submit a written request to the FAA for the Dispatcher Certificate. The FAA will then review and evaluate your test results and supporting documentation. This includes the records and certifications of flight training and instruction, as well as the completion of any additional training that may be required. If all the requirements have been met, the FAA will issue the certificate. Once the certificate has been issued, the individual must remain in compliance with the applicable regulations and requirements to maintain the certificate. This includes participating in continuing education courses, as well as passing annual proficiency tests. If the individual fails to meet the necessary requirements, the FAA may suspend or revoke the Dispatcher Certificate. Individuals may also voluntarily surrender their certificate after providing a written request to the FAA.
