What are the regulations regarding aircraft maintenance training?

In Utah, aircraft maintenance training is regulated by both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the state government. The FAA is responsible for creating the regulations and standards that all aircraft maintenance personnel must adhere to, no matter their location. The FAA requires aircraft maintenance personnel to be appropriately trained, certified, and qualified for their work. Training programs consist of a minimum of eighteen months of classroom instruction and six to eight months of supervised on-the-job training. All personnel must be properly trained in Federal Aviation Regulations, safety, and aircraft maintenance processes. In addition to the FAA regulations, Utah has its own laws and requirements for aircraft maintenance personnel. They must have at least two years of aircraft maintenance experience and pass the Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) exam. Also, they must complete a 15-hour practical workshop on aircraft repair and maintenance safety and skills. Lastly, all aircraft maintenance personnel must hold a valid airframe and powerplant technician certificate. This certificate is issued by the FAA and requires passing an oral and written examination. Additionally, personnel must complete a minimum of thirty hours of continuing education every two years to keep their certificate valid. These regulations are designed to ensure the safety of all aircrafts and their passengers. By following the regulations and standards set by the FAA and the state of Utah, aircraft maintenance personnel can ensure their work is up to the highest standards.
