What are the regulations governing aircraft airworthiness inspections?
In Florida, aircraft airworthiness inspections are regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). All aircraft must conform to FAA standards in order for them to be approved for flight. To ensure they adhere to these standards, aircraft must undergo airworthiness inspections prior to any flight. The inspection process is a comprehensive evaluation of the aircraft’s overall condition and safety. Inspectors will review the airframe, engines and communication systems, as well as the aircraft’s electrical and fuel systems. The FAA requires the following components to be examined and tested: engine, propeller, flight controls, navigation, radio communication, instrumentation, cabin pressurization, and landing gear. Depending on the type of aircraft, the inspections will vary. For instance, a recreational aircraft may require a basic inspection. On the other hand, a commercial airliner is subject to a much more rigorous assessment. Additionally, an aircraft must also be inspected every 12 calendar months. This inspection is referred to as an annual inspection or annual airworthiness inspection. The FAA requires that all of the necessary components must be in good working order in order for an aircraft to pass its inspection. In the event a component is found to be defective, the aircraft will be grounded until it passes inspection. In Florida, the FAA is the regulatory body responsible for ensuring aircraft airworthiness inspections are conducted in accordance with FAA standards. These inspections are essential to ensuring the safety of the people who fly in aircraft. Therefore, aircraft owners and operators must remain vigilant to ensure their aircraft pass all necessary airworthiness inspections.
