How do I obtain a trademark or copyright?

You can register your copyright online or you can file a paper application. The application must include a deposit copy of the work to be registered, a form, and a fee. Once your application is approved, you will receive a certificate of registration from the USPTO or the U.S. Copyright Office. This certificate will confirm your trademark or copyright registration, and you may then use your symbol or the copyright mark to protect your work.
