What is business litigation law?
Business litigation law in Colorado is a type of law that involves disputes between businesses or between businesses and individuals. It can involve civil cases such as breach of contract or tortious interference, or it can involve criminal cases such as fraud or embezzlement. In either case, litigation involves the filing of a complaint or lawsuit with the court and then proceeding to a trial. In civil cases, the goal of business litigation is to make one party whole and restore them to the position they would have been in had no wrongful act occurred. This is typically done through awarding monetary damages or an injunction ordering the other party to cease the wrongful actions or behavior. In criminal cases, the goal of business litigation is to hold the wrongdoer responsible for their actions and punish them accordingly. This involves proving beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused committed the crime, which often requires a variety of evidence including witness testimony, financial documents, and physical evidence. No matter the type of business litigation, a key component of the process is legal representation. Attorneys are involved throughout the process and are best equipped to ensure that all applicable laws are properly followed and the rights of all parties involved are protected.
