What is the difference between a traumatic brain injury and a cerebral injury?
A traumatic brain injury (TBI) and a cerebral injury are both forms of brain injury and are both serious medical conditions. However, they are two separate injuries with distinct causes, effects, and treatments. A traumatic brain injury (TBI) is caused by a strong external force, often as a result of a motor vehicle accident, a fall, or a blow to the head. Symptoms of a TBI can range from mild to severe and include disorientation, confusion, headaches, difficulty concentrating, speech or language problems, dizziness, and fatigue. A cerebral injury is an injury to the brain that is not caused by a strong external force. Cerebral injuries can be caused by a stroke, infection, tumor, or neurologic disorder. Symptoms of a cerebral injury are often similar to those of a TBI, such as disorientation, confusion, headaches, difficulty concentrating, speech or language problems, dizziness, and fatigue. However, depending on the cause of the cerebral injury, additional symptoms may be present. In North Carolina, brain injury law is complex and requires the help of an experienced attorney. Brain injuries can result in long-term disabilities and other life-changing effects, and the victim must be compensated for their losses. An attorney can help guide victims through the legal process and ensure they get the compensation they deserve.
