What rights do consumers have when it comes to business regulation?

In California, consumers have a variety of rights when it comes to business regulation. For example, they have the right to sue businesses if they are engaging in unfair or deceptive practices. This covers activities that are considered fraudulent, discriminatory, or otherwise harmful to the consumer. Consumers also have the right to receive full disclosure of all fees, taxes, and other restrictions that apply to the products or services they are purchasing. They also have the right to seek compensation for any loss or damages resulting from business practices that violate the regulations set forth in the California Business and Professions Code. Consumers also have the right to file complaints with the California Department of Consumer Affairs and to seek redress. Disputes between businesses and consumers are handled by the department, and it is possible to take legal action if necessary. Consumers also have the right to be informed about any business’s use of, or reliance on, any consumer data. Finally, California consumers also have the right to receive refunds and/or return products for any reason. Businesses are required to clearly inform customers of their return policy and that they can receive a refund if they are not satisfied with a product or service. This right allows consumers to have more confidence when making an online purchase, or when dealing with a business in person.
