What are the legal ages for cannabis possession and cultivation?
In Pennsylvania, the legal ages for cannabis possession and cultivation are 21 and up. Possessing, using, or cultivating cannabis is illegal for those under 21 years of age. Any person found in violation of this law can face fines of up to $500 and could be sentenced to serve a maximum of 30 days in jail. The state of Pennsylvania has authorized medical cannabis for certain health conditions, but the cannabis must be obtained from an approved dispensary. The age of medical cannabis users in Pennsylvania must be 18 or older and they must have written authorization from their medical practitioner. The law also provides legal access to hemp-derived products such as CBD oil, provided it contains less than 0.3 percent THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). There is no legal age requirement for hemp-derived products in Pennsylvania, as long as the THC content is below 0.3%. However, it is important to note that while cannabis possession and cultivation are legal for individuals 21 and over, it is still illegal to drive under the influence of cannabis, and selling cannabis without a license is a criminal offense. Individuals found to be in violation of these laws can face up to five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $15,000.
