What restrictions are there on advertising for cannabis products?
In the state of Texas, cannabis is illegal and cannot be sold for recreational use. This means that advertising cannabis products is also not allowed. Businesses that do any type of cannabis advertising may be fined or even prosecuted. Generally, businesses are not allowed to advertise cannabis products on television, radio, billboards, or websites. They can’t even use promotional items, like flyers, to advertise cannabis products. There are also restrictions on how firms can advertise services related to cannabis. For instance, companies that provide legal or medical services related to cannabis can’t display the cannabis leaves or other cannabis-related images on their website or promotional materials. Additionally, these firms cannot make any claims about the health benefits of cannabis. In general, businesses in Texas should not advertise any cannabis product or service. Doing so can lead to massive fines or even jail time. Consequently, businesses have to abide by the laws and regulations that prohibit the advertising of any cannabis product or service.
