What are the penalties for providing cannabis to minors?

In Wisconsin, it is illegal to provide cannabis to minors. Doing so can lead to criminal charges and penalties. Depending on the severity of the offense, these penalties can be quite severe. For a first offense, the accused individual could face a maximum of 9 months in jail, a $10,000 fine, and/or probation. If the accused individual is a minor, the fine is reduced to $1,000. However, if the minor is 16 or 17 years old, the juvenile court may file a delinquency petition. If the accused individual has a prior conviction for providing cannabis to a minor, the penalty can be increased to a maximum of 3 years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, and/or probation. Furthermore, the accused may have to register as a drug offender and undergo drug treatment. The accused individual may also face additional charges, such as contributing to the delinquency of a minor, if they are accused of providing cannabis to a minor under the age of 16. Depending on the circumstances, the accused individual could face up to 6 years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, and/or probation. Ultimately, providing cannabis to minors is a serious crime in Wisconsin and can lead to severe criminal penalties. It is important to remember that cannabis is still illegal for minors and should not be provided to them under any circumstances.
