How do I obtain a license to grow cannabis?
In Kansas, it is illegal to grow cannabis, even with a medical marijuana license. This means the only legal way to obtain cannabis is to purchase it from a licensed dispensary. Therefore, it is not possible to obtain a license to grow cannabis in Kansas. However, in March 2020 Kansas enacted a medical marijuana bill which created a framework for a medical marijuana program. This medical cannabis program allows for the licensed sale and use of certain types of cannabis products for qualifying patients. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is responsible for implementing this program and issuing medical cannabis cards. In order to qualify for a medical cannabis card, a patient must have an approved medical condition and be under the care of a licensed physician. Once they have met the qualifications, they can apply for a medical cannabis card with the KDHE. If approved, they can then purchase cannabis products from a licensed medical cannabis dispensary. Medical cannabis laws in Kansas are subject to change, so it is a good idea to stay up to date with the latest news and regulations. Additionally, those interested in obtaining a medical cannabis card should consult with their physician and contact the KDHE for more information.
