In New Hampshire, it is illegal to cultivate cannabis plants in a person’s home. Growing or cultivating cannabis without proper legal authorization is subject to criminal penalties, which could include fines and/or incarceration. However, medical patients are allowed to possess and cultivate up to 2 ounces of usable cannabis flower, but only if they have written certification from a New Hampshire-licensed physician. For medical purposes, patients may also possess up to six cannabis plants, three of which may be mature and flowering. In addition, New Hampshire has recently allowed the sale and possession of cannabis products, although all activities related to recreational cannabis are still illegal in the state. This means that while individuals may purchase and possess small amounts of cannabis, it is illegal to grow cannabis plants in one’s home. Furthermore, it is illegal to provide cannabis for free or for profit. As of now, the only form of legal cannabis cultivation in New Hampshire is through authorized medical vendors.
