Are there any laws concerning the transport of cannabis for medical purposes?

Yes, there are laws concerning the transport of cannabis for medical purposes in Tennessee. The state legalized medical cannabis in May 2020. Under Tennessee law, medical cannabis can only be used by registered qualifying patients who have a valid medical cannabis card. Those persons may possess, transport, and use medical cannabis for therapeutic purposes. However, the law does not allow any type of public transport of medical cannabis, including on planes, buses, and other public services. Only private transport is allowed. Additionally, all medical cannabis products must be in their original packages and labeled in accordance with the law. Cannabis can only be transported to and from a registered cannabis dispensary, and it cannot be taken across state lines. If a patient is transporting cannabis by car, it must be kept in a secure, locked container separate from the driver at all times. All of these regulations must be followed in order for medical cannabis to be legally transported in Tennessee.
