Are there any restrictions on the use of cannabis for medical purposes?

In Florida, there are restrictions on the use of cannabis for medical purposes. The use of medical cannabis is legal in the state of Florida, but it must be prescribed and administered by an appropriately licensed physician. In order to qualify for the use of medical cannabis, patients must have a qualifying medical condition such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or chronic pain. Patients can only obtain medical cannabis from a state-licensed dispensary and are limited to a maximum of a 70-day supply of cannabis products. All purchases and transport of medical cannabis must be done in accordance with state law. In addition, the use of cannabis is restricted for anyone under the age of 18. A parent or guardian must authorize the use of cannabis for any minors. Additionally, it is illegal to use cannabis while driving or operating a vessel. Lastly, it is important to remember that cannabis is still a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance under federal law, so it is not legal at the federal level. Florida State law has not yet preempted any federal cannabis laws, so all individuals should be aware of this and use cannabis responsibly and within the confines of the law.
