Are there any restrictions on the amount of cannabis that can be legally distributed?
Yes, there are restrictions on the amount of cannabis that can be legally distributed in Pennsylvania. Under current state law, a person can only possess a maximum of 30 grams of cannabis in Pennsylvania. Any quantity over that amount is considered a felony offense and carries a maximum penalty of 3 years’ imprisonment. Furthermore, Pennsylvania does not allow for the sale or delivery of cannabis. The only exception is for those who are registered as caregivers who may possess a six month supply, defined as up to twelve (12) ounces of cannabis products. Additionally, cannabis-infused products can only be sold in state-licensed dispensaries. All edible products must be clearly labeled and must not contain more than 10 mg of THC per serving. Although there are limits on the amount of cannabis that can be legally distributed, the state of Pennsylvania does not have any limitations on the number of plants that can be cultivated within a single residence. However, growing cannabis in Pennsylvania without a valid permit is a felony offense punishable by up to twelve (12) months in prison and a $5,000 fine.
