What is catastrophic injury law?
Catastrophic injury law is a type of civil law that is used to provide compensation for individuals who have suffered severe physical or mental injuries. This type of law is used specifically to provide financial protection and compensation for the victims of serious physical or mental injuries due to the negligence of another party. In New Mexico, catastrophic injury law can be used to help victims of motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, and even workplace injuries. Catastrophic injuries can be physical, such as a spinal cord injury, or mental, such as post-traumatic stress disorder. The compensation provided by catastrophic injury law is typically much higher than that of other types of civil law because these injuries can have a serious and lasting impact on the victim’s life. In some cases, the compensation can be used to cover medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages that may have been caused by the accident. In addition, the compensation can also be used to help provide the victim with the resources and services they need to adjust to their new life after suffering a catastrophic injury.
