What is a cash-back credit card?

A cash-back credit card is a type of credit card that rewards you for using it by giving you a percentage of the amount you spend back as a cash reward. This means that when you use your credit card to make a purchase, you get a percentage of that purchase amount back, usually as a statement credit or a deposit to your bank account. For example, if you make a purchase of $100 with a cash-back credit card offering 2% cash back, you would receive $2 back. In Texas, the Credit Card Law requires credit card companies to disclose all of the information pertaining to the cash-back rewards of their cards, so consumers can make an informed decision when choosing one. This includes information such as the percentage of cash back on purchases, the maximum amount of cash back that can be earned in a given year, and any fees associated with using the card. It also dictates that the cash-back rewards must be clearly explained and any restrictions must also be disclosed.
