How long does a debtor have to confirm a plan in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy?

In Oregon, a debtor in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy has 90 days to confirm a plan. This process begins when the debtor first files the documents with the court. The debtor then has 15 days to submit a proposed plan of repayment to the court. Once the proposed plan is submitted, the court will hold a hearing within 60 days. At this hearing, the court will review the proposed plan and allow creditors to make objections. Once the hearing is complete, the court has 30 days to issue a decision on whether or not the proposed plan meets all the requirements of Chapter 11 bankruptcy laws. If the plan is accepted, the debtor has another 30 days to confirm the plan. During this time, the debtor will need to make sure the plan is signed by all creditors and accepted by the court. Once the confirmation is complete, the debtor must adhere to the terms of the plan or risk having the plan revoked. This is why it is important for debtors to make sure the plan is fair and equitable for all parties involved. If the debtor fails to confirm the plan, they may also not be able to discharge their debt under Chapter 11 bankruptcy law.
