What is the process of registering a foreign-funded company in China?

Registering a foreign-funded company in China involves a few steps. Before anything else, foreign investors must understand the requirements and conditions to register the company, the nature and scope of the business, and local laws and regulations related to the field. Once the foreign investor has a complete understanding of the venture, they must apply to the local department of commerce for a business license. The application should include a business plan, proof of sufficient capital, and names or information of all shareholders and directors of the company. Foreign investors must also register with the local tax bureau and open a corporate bank account. After submitting the necessary paperwork, the application will then be forwarded to the State Administration of Industry and Commerce. This department will review the application, inspect the business premises, and verify the investor’s information. Once the review is complete, the foreign-funded company will receive the business license. Finally, the foreign-funded company must register with the local Government of Industry and Commerce and submit all the necessary documents. The business license will be mailed to the company by the local department of commerce after the registration is finalized. In some cases, foreign investors may also be required to obtain a Certificate of Investment or an Approval Certificate from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange if they plan to use foreign capital in their business venture.
