What are the customs and duty regulations applicable to imports and exports in China?
In China, customs and duty regulations for imports and exports are regulated by the Customs Law and Value-Added Tax Law. According to these laws, all imports and exports must be taxed, and those taxes must be paid in the designated currency within the prescribed time limit. All imported goods must pass through customs inspection and be presented with the relevant documents. According to China’s customs law, all imported goods must be declared, and the cost, insurance, and freight (CIF) price of the goods must be accounted for. The importer is required to pay taxes according to the customs duty rate, as well as import tariffs, anti-dumping duties, VAT, and consumption taxes. The importer must also provide other required documents or certificates, such as the product registration certificate, sales invoice, and customs declaration form. Meanwhile, all exported goods must comply with the relevant regulations set out in the Customs Law. All exported goods must be registered, and the country of origin and respective duties and taxes must be declared. Exports are subject to the payment of export duties and VAT, as well as any other relevant taxes.
