What is the difference between class action and single plaintiffs lawsuits?

Class action and single plaintiffs lawsuits are both types of civil litigation, however, there are important differences between the two. In a single plaintiff lawsuit, a single individual or business entity sues another individual or business entity. The dispute is resolved by a judge or jury, and the case can involve any type of civil dispute, including breach of contract, personal injury, or defamation. In a class action lawsuit, on the other hand, a group of people who have a common interest in a civil dispute come together and sue a single defendant. The class members are represented by a group of lawyers who represent the action. In Florida, the class must be “so numerous that joinder of all members is impracticable.” If the class is certified by the court, any court decisions or settlement awards resulting from the class action are binding on all class members. The main difference between class action and single plaintiff lawsuits is that class action lawsuits allow a large number of people with similar legal interests to pursue their case in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Single plaintiff lawsuits, on the other hand, can be more expensive and time consuming; however, they may be more advantageous to plaintiffs who want to decide how to pursue their case on their own terms.
