In Indiana, there are laws governing the use of biometric data for authentication and identification. Indiana Code, Title 32, Article 28, Section 1, Subsection 2, states that an individual may not store, collect, or use biometric information without the written permission of the individual. In addition, the biometric technology must be able to detect if an individual is attempting to use the biometric data of another person and must provide the owner with the appropriate notifications and security measures in the event that this happens. Finally, businesses that use biometric technology must provide training for employees on the proper procedures for handling biometric data, and must make sure that the data is not used for any purpose other than the one for which it was intended. This includes ensuring that the data is not used for any financial gain.
