What consumer protections exist regarding the sale of timeshares?
In Nebraska, timeshares are regulated by the Nebraska Timeshare Act. Under the Act, a buyer of a timeshare can cancel their contract within seven days of signing. The timeshare buyer is also allowed a cooling-off period of seven days, during which they can cancel their purchase without penalty. The Nebraska Timeshare Act also gives timeshare buyers certain rights. For example, timeshare buyers have the right to a full refund if the timeshare they purchase is not as described in the contract. Additionally, buyers are entitled to be notified if the timeshare they purchase is subject to a lien. Timeshare buyers in Nebraska may also be protected from deceptive sales practices. The Nebraska Timeshare Act prohibits developers from misrepresenting the purchase price or using high-pressure sales tactics. Under the Act, a timeshare buyer may be able to recover damages if they can prove that a developer engaged in deceptive sales practices. Finally, timeshare buyers in Nebraska have the right to review all documents related to their purchase. Before signing a contract, buyers should make sure they understand any terms and conditions related to their purchase. Additionally, buyers should ensure that any promises made by the timeshare developer are included in the contract.
