What rights do I have as a condo owner?

In Texas, as a condo owner you have the right to join the condominium association, enjoy the use of facilities, and pay fees to keep the common areas maintained. You are also entitled to a basic set of property rights, such as the right to occupy and exclude anyone else from occupying your unit, the right to sell or dispose of the unit, the right to peacefully enjoy the unit and common areas, and the right to receive full disclosure of all material facts as required by law. You also have a right to vote on certain matters in the condominium association, including but not limited to the election of board members, the adoption of amendments to the governing documents, and any other decisions governing the day-to-day operations of the association. In Texas, the law does not provide for the right to a jury trial in any dispute arising out of a condominium association. This means you must pay your assessments on time even if you disagree with the actions of the association.
