What types of debts can be discharged through Chapter 7 Bankruptcy?
Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Law in Idaho allows debtors to discharge certain types of debts. Generally, most unsecured debts can be discharged through Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. These include medical bills, credit card debts, personal loans, utilities, cell phone bills, and certain types of business debts. In addition, certain types of secured debts, such as car loans, may be discharged, with the debtor surrendering the collateral and releasing the lender from any liability. Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Law also allows for the discharge of certain types of taxes, such as federal income taxes from more than three years ago, provided certain conditions have been met. In addition, certain domestic support obligations, such as child support, spousal support, and alimony may also be dischargeable. Finally, Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Law in Idaho does not allow the discharge of certain debts. These include student loans, criminal fines and restitution, and other obligations to governmental entities, as well as debts incurred through fraud or misrepresentation. In addition, any debts incurred from intentional injury or death, or from domestic support obligations incurred within 180 days of filing for bankruptcy, are not dischargeable.
