Are there any age requirements for entering into a civil union?

In Arizona, there are age requirements for entering into a civil union. In order to enter into a civil union, both parties must be over the age of 18. If a person is under the age of 18 then they need to have parental consent for the civil union. This means that both parents of the person must sign off on the union in order for it to be legally binding. In addition to age requirements, both parties must also have a valid form of identification. This could include a driver’s license, a state-issued ID, or a passport. Both parties must also have been in the state of Arizona for at least 30 days prior to entering into the civil union. This requirement is intended to ensure that both parties understand the rights and responsibilities of the union before they enter into it. Finally, both parties must sign a "Declaration of Intent," which is a document that states that the union is entered into with the "free and voluntary agreement of the parties solely for the purpose of establishing a lasting and permanent relationship of mutual commitment, trust, and respect." This document must be signed in the presence of a notary public or a justice of the peace. Once all of the requirements have been met, the civil union can be legally registered with the clerk and recorder’s office in the county in which the civil union will take place.
