What is the judgment/verdict stage of civil procedure?
The judgment/verdict stage is the final step in the civil procedure process. In Delaware, the judgment/verdict stage happens after the trial has been completed. The judge or jury will consider the evidence presented during the trial and will come to a decision about who will win the case. The decision is referred to as a judgment or verdict. If the jury finds in favor of the plaintiff, the court will order the defendant to pay compensation or comply with an order specified by the court. If the defendant is ordered to pay damages, the court may also issue an injunction preventing the defendant from engaging in similar activities in the future. On the other hand, if the jury finds in favor of the defendant, the court will issue a verdict stating that the defendant is not responsible for the alleged wrongs. This essentially means that the plaintiff will not be able to sue the defendant for the same or similar issues again. Regardless of the outcome of the trial, the court will issue a judgment or verdict which is then entered into the court’s records. The judgment or verdict is a public record and can be used as evidence in future cases. It is also a matter of public record in Delaware.
