What is the role of a judge in a civil case?

A judge plays an important role in a civil case in California. A judge is responsible for overseeing and deciding the outcome of a civil trial. The judge will listen to all the evidence and witnesses presented by both parties and determine who should prevail in the case. The judge will give instructions to both parties on how the trial should proceed and may call on witnesses to answer questions. They may also make decisions such as pointing out mistakes made by either party during the trial. The judge will take into account existing case law, statutes, the parties’ arguments and any other relevant evidence when making their decision. The judge will also make sure the trial is conducted in a fair and impartial manner by both parties. They will ensure everyone has an opportunity to present their side of the case and that evidence is handled properly. The judge will be responsible for deciding on any objections, motions and rulings made during the trial. Finally, the judge will deliver the verdict. They will decide who wins the case and who is liable for damages. A judge can also issue orders for a party to do or not do something as part of the final ruling. Once the decision has been made, the judge will have the authority to enforce it in court.
