What is cybersecurity law?

Cybersecurity law is a set of rules and regulations designed to protect computer systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access, destruction, or manipulation. In Mississippi, cybersecurity laws are primarily codified in the Mississippi Code of 1972 (Miss. Code. Ann. § 11-46-1 et seq.). The law establishes rules and regulations for the use of the state’s computer systems and requires organizations to implement security measures to protect their data and networks. These include measures such as secure passwords, data encryption, and firewalls. The law also requires organizations to provide regular security training to employees and to report data breaches to the Department of Homeland Security. In addition, the law requires organizations to establish policies and procedures for responding to security incidents, and to conduct regular audits of their security systems. Cybersecurity law is an important part of ensuring the safety and security of computer systems, networks, and data in Mississippi and beyond.
