What is a defective product recall?

A defective product recall is when a product is recalled due to it being found to be dangerous or defective. This can happen when a product is designed, manufactured, or marketed in a way that makes it unsafe to use. In Nevada, the Department of Business and Industry is responsible for ensuring that all manufacturers of consumer products comply with consumer safety laws and regulations. If a product is found to be defective or dangerous, the manufacturer must notify the department and provide a recall plan. This plan should include how the product will be removed from the marketplace, how the consumer will be reimbursed, and any corrective actions the manufacturer must take. The department can also require the manufacturer to issue an official recall notice to alert consumers to the dangers posed by the defective product. Following the recall, the department will investigate the product to determine the cause of the defect and take further action if necessary.
