What is the difference between data security, privacy and cyber security?
Data security, privacy and cyber security all refer to the protection of sensitive information, both online and offline. Data security deals with the physical protection of data, such as from theft of storage devices. Privacy is a broader concept that involves protecting personal information from unauthorized use or disclosure. Cyber security deals with the security of networks and systems from malicious attacks, such as identity theft or data breaches. Data security focuses on preventing unauthorized unauthorized access to data or the storage devices that contain the data. This can include encryption, authentication, access control and other measures. Privacy focuses on preventing unauthorized or unnecessary use of data, either by individuals, organizations or other entities, that could cause damage to an individual. This includes things like identity theft, use of data for unsolicited marketing, or the release of confidential information. Cyber security focuses on the protection of computer networks and systems, such as networks that store and transmit data over the internet, from malicious attacks. This includes things like malware and phishing attacks that could lead to data breaches.
