What are my rights as a disabled employee?

In North Carolina, disabled employees have certain rights in the workplace that are outlined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA prohibits employers from discriminating against individuals with disabilities in all areas of employment, including hiring, training, promotion, job assignment, pay, fringe benefits, and other terms or conditions of employment. Employers must make reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities. This means employers must make changes to processes and to the physical workspace to allow disabled employees to work to the best of their abilities without facing undue hardship.
