What is the job accommodation network and how can it help me?
The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is a free service that provides resources and information to help people with disabilities work in North Dakota. JAN helps by providing advice, resources, and technical assistance on workplace accommodations and disability employment issues. It also offers a comprehensive online library of over 30,000 resources, including research reports, case studies, course materials, and fact sheets. JAN can help you determine which changes and accommodations you need to make in order to be successful at work. The staff are experienced professionals who work with employers and employees to find reasonable solutions to employment-related issues. They will assist you in making sure that your workplace meets the requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and other disability laws. JAN can also help you apply for any government-funded grants or other financial assistance that you qualify for, such as the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), Employment Opportunity Grants (EOCG), and Vocational Rehabilitation (VR). Additionally, it can help you apply for state or local laws that provide workplace accommodation. For instance, the North Dakota Human Services Department, in partnership with the Job Accommodation Network, offers the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) which provides grants to employers and employees to develop the skills and resources necessary to get and keep a job. This program helps employers create job opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Overall, the Job Accommodation Network can help you by providing resources, advice, and technical assistance on workplace accommodations, disability employment issues, and the use of government-funded grants or programs. It is an invaluable resource for anyone with a disability who needs assistance in finding employment in North Dakota.
