In Oklahoma, the legal definition of a dangerous dog is any dog that has killed, seriously injured, or inflicted serious injury on any person, or has killed or seriously injured any domestic animal. Under the Oklahoma Dog Bite Statute, a dangerous dog is one that has a known propensity, tendency, or disposition to attack unprovoked, to cause injury or to otherwise threaten the safety of human beings or other domestic animals, including a propensity that is observed in a dog’s behavior at the scene of an attack or other behavior at another time or place. Oklahoma law also provides that owners of dangerous dogs can be held liable for any personal injury or property damage their dog causes. Oklahoma’s dangerous dog laws are in place to protect the public from serious harm or injury.
